Welcome Ministry
Do you remember what it is like to visit a church for the first time? Did you feel welcomed and warmly greeted? Did you get a chance to learn about the church and its people right away? Or, did you feel uncomfortable and ignored? No matter what your experience was, you probably realize the importance of a person's first visit to a church in how they might respond to that church family and to the Lord, as well.
The Welcome Ministry's theme is: To welcome others to CEC as you would want Christ to be welcomed. Our team of Greeters has the following roles:
- Serve 2x a quarter at Sunday Service by arriving early to pray and greet
- Warmly greet all those who enter the service
- Encourage a general sense of warmth and feeling at home in the church
- Provide 1st time guests with:
- a warm welcome
- information about our church
- a gift from the church (a book, pen, & welcome flower/star sticker)
- personal introductions to others in the congregation
- follow-up through a letter/postcard from the church/greeter and connection to fellowships/community groups if desired
By serving in the Welcome Ministry, people have:
- Gotten to know others in the church that they otherwise may not have met new guests, fellow greeters, and others as they come into the service
- Helped new guests feel God's presence at CEC through fellowship, connecting them to others, and assisting with adjusting to San Diego
- Experienced God's blessing by being the first extension of God's grace to those who enter our church service and helping them feel at home
If you have a heart for welcoming others to church as you would want Christ to be welcomed, please contact Fanny Kim, Kelly Lam, Jonathan Liu, May Siu, Deanna Wan, or Marvin Wong. We'd love to talk to you!
