Brief Biographies of Our Speakers (in alphabetical order):

Pastor Eddie Cheng --- Pastor to Students, Contra Costa Gospel Church (CCGC) in Walnut Creek, CA

Eddie Cheng, a Southern California native, was born and raised in Temple City, CA, a small city in the San Gabriel Valley (Los Angeles County). He went to Temple City High School where he got involved in high school athletics, including cross country ("I don't know how I ever did that"), basketball, and volleyball. Outside of school, Eddie also became active in his church's youth group. During his high school days, when he wasn't at practice or at church, you could probably find him shooting pool with his buddies or else at a café somewhere drinking "boba nai cha."

His life took another step forward when he moved to the Bay Area in 1994 to attend UC Berkeley as an undergraduate student. At Cal, Eddie studied Genetics and was dead set on eventually becoming a pediatrician. Throughout his entire life up until that point he thought God had created him to become a great doctor helping young children. All this changed during his senior year in college when he felt God tugging at his heart to serve Him full time in ministry. After several months of praying about this and talking it over with lots of people, he finally committed himself to full time ministry that year, giving up any dreams of becoming a physician.

In 2000, Eddie enrolled at Western Seminary in San Jose to study full time. At this time, he was actively involved in youth ministry at the church he attended while in college. After two years at the seminary, Eddie left his college church for another church, Contra Costa Gospel Church (CCGC) in Walnut Creek, CA, where he serves now as Pastor to Students. He graduated from seminary in 2003 and now serves full time at CCGC.

Right after graduation from seminary, he married his girlfriend of four years, and is now happily married to Cindy. Together they love to eat, watch TV, and serve the Lord in the Youth Group. He also coaches high school volleyball, plays basketball on Sunday afternoons, and still enjoys the occasional "boba nai cha."

Dr. Kent Eaton --- Associate Dean and Professor of Pastoral Ministry, Bethel Seminary, San Diego

For the past eleven years Kent A. Eaton has served as Associate Dean and Professor of Pastoral Ministry at Bethel Seminary San Diego (a Bethel University seminary). During the previous thirteen years, Kent taught in a small theological college outside of Barcelona, Spain. This winter his book, Protestants in Spain, 1869-1936, "Shall the Papists Prevail!", will be published. At Bethel his forte is preparing students for ministry by helping them embrace their God-given gifts while identifying the potential area(s) of ministry in which their unique gifts, talents, and dreams could be put to use. In addition to serving at Bethel, he is active in his local church and serves on various local and national organizations that advocate for the needs of the homeless and disabled communities. His hobbies include gardening and cooking. Kent lives in San Diego with his wife, Vickie, a Registered Dietitian and Diabetes Educator who works in community health.
